ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Kate Lacey was an actress before taking a position as assistant to Marion Dougherty at Warner Brothers Studio in the film casting department. Upon Marion’s retirement Kate moved on to the Walt Disney Company. She became Manager of Feature Film Casting for Walt Disney and Touchstone Pictures and as such she helped oversee the casting of the films “Kinky Boots Factory”, “Casanova”, “Step Up”, and others. She was casting director on films such as “Stick It,” starring Jeff Bridges. Lacey left casting to go back to acting and secured roles in film and television. Kate is currently head of the professional program for the Maggie Flanigan Studio in NYC teaching actors the business of acting and auditioning. Kate recently produced the award winning feature documentary “Casting By” which had  its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and broadcast premiere on HBO. She is currently producing the independent feature film “Beard’s Creek”. She graduated with a BFA in Acting from the Emerson College.

 

Terrance Hines of LA based Hines and Hunt Entertainment has been managing and developing actors for the past 30 years. He discovered and developed the careers of Lisa Bonet of The Cosby Show and many others. In addition, Terrance was the on-set coach for many television series including: Kids incorporated with Stacey “Fergie” Ferguson and General Hospital. Terrance is also the author of the book “The Actor Succeeds”. Hines and Hunt manage talent including series regulars in Degrassi: The Next Generation, Don’t Sweat It, Movie Surfers, 10 Years in Everybody Hates Chris, That’s So Raven, How I Met Your Mother, etc. In feature films you can see their people in Yes Man, Angels and Demons, Balls Out: The Gary Horseman Story, Big Momma’s House I & II, Last Holiday, Like Mike II, Superhero Movie, School for Scoundrels, Miss Congeniality, Suicide Dolls and Freeloaders.

 

Brittany Ross is currently recurring as Courtney on the hit ABC comedy, The Middle, and played Candis on Disney XD’s, Pair of Kings. Other TV and Film credits include; Forgetting Sarah Marshall, 2 Broke Girls, Shake It Up,  Desperate Housewives, Switched at Birth, Good Luck Charlie, and The Suite life on Deck. She is a working actress living in Los Angeles for six years, but began her acting journey in Texas at the age of 5. Brittany’s students can be seen in Hot in Cleveland, Austin and Ally, The Middle, and more!

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

“PARENT INTENSIVE” – Terrance Hines

This workshop is designed to enlighten the parents of young actors an performs as how the entertainment industry works. The adults that support the young actors dream should have the knowledge and helpful tools to pursue the Hollywood Industry with confidence. Terrance Hines will give you pointers on how to navigate through the entertainment business and give your child the support they need. He will unravel how the industry works. Questions like “what are managers, and do we need one?”, what is the difference between and manager an agent and a casting director?”, and how do we find out about, and prepare for auditions?” will al be addressed and answered. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore your burning questions about kids and acting. This is a detailed, forthright and realistic workshop.

 

“ACTOR’S INTENSIVE WORKSHOP” – Terrance Hines

The Actor’s Intensive Workshop will emphasize the importance of learning the fundamental film and television skills of auditioning and the skills of being connected and remaining present in the moment. Talent will be performing scenes, cold readings and monologues to experience performing honestly. The Talent will be given feedback and redirected. The remainder of the session, talent will go with Terrance where he will lend his many years of teaching experience to coach talent on techniques using improv exercises, comedy writing and mime.

 

“BASIC ELEMENTS FOR SUCCESS IN YOUR CHILDS TV/FILM CARER” – Kate Lacey

This workshop will assist your child and educate you in their pursuit of a professional acting career from a business perspective. Kate will cover topics such as realistic expectations, developing business tools, including headshots, resumes, slates, postcards and coaching. These tips will help your child actor gain industry attention. A successful career requires long term focused goals, strategic planning and lots of determined effort but most importantly your child needs to enjoy the process, Kate teaches how to do all this together. By helping your child build a strong professional toolkit, you can help further their career, create opportunities and help them reach those necessary tier jumps in the business.

 

“A UNIQUE LOOK INTO THE WORLD OF ACTING” – Brittany Ross

During this 3-hour workshop actors will learn how to prepare for an audition, work with scene partners, understand and dissect text, and most importantly embrace… the uniqueness each actor has and learn hot to use it as a secret ninja weapon! In addition, Brittany will give actors an inside look into the world of a working actor, They’ll introduce actor working on-set, and work with real Disney audition material and character breakdowns.
